History

Our history curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and foster a deep understanding of the past, connecting historical events to the world today. Covering key periods from prehistory to modern times, it provides students with a clear sense of chronology while exploring significant British and global histories, including the Stone Age, Ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire, and the Maya. Children have the opportunity to think about the differences in societies that are separated by history or that were thriving during the same period but in different areas of the world.

Students develop critical thinking skills by analysing artefacts, primary sources, and historical interpretations, gaining insight into how historians reconstruct the past. Thematic studies, such as the evolution of crime and punishment or the impact of Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggles, help students understand recurring ideas that shape societies over time. By the end of their journey, students will have a broad knowledge of major historical events and civilisations, an appreciation for diverse cultures, and the tools to think critically and ask thoughtful questions about the world. This curriculum equips learners with a lasting passion for history and the ability to engage meaningfully with the past and its relevance to the present.
