Safeguarding

‘Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.’
KCSiE 2024

As a school, we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.

We make every effort to provide a safe and welcoming environment underpinned by a culture of openness where both children and adults feel secure, able to talk and believe that they are being listened to. In order to do this, we ensure there are strong, positive relationships between pupils and staff throughout the school.

We maintain an attitude of “it could happen here” where safeguarding is concerned.

All staff members at Fair Oak Junior School are responsible for safeguarding. They play a key role and receive regular up-to-date training to ensure there is a strong culture of safeguarding and robust systems within the school.

Some of the key staff members are listed below. If you have a safeguarding concern or feel like you are in need of support, then please contact us.

If you think a child is in immediate danger and needs urgent help, then please contact the police on 999.

There are a number of services offered to families by the local authority. You can learn more about these on their website which is linked through the image below that shows some of these services.

There is also some information about the Family Help for Families and the Early Help Hub. This is not a self-referral service but if you have concerns about your child or family, you should first speak to a professional (for example a teacher or GP) They may be able to contact the Family Help team on your behalf or suggest some alternative help.
